In recent years, the structure of a family and the role of its members are gradually changing. What kinds of changes can occur? Do you think these changes are positive and negative?

(1) In the past few decades, the patterns of a family have greatly diversified. (2) There are some changes regarding its organization and members’ role; and in my opinion, these changes can be seen as a progress.

(3)Families at present have undergone two main differences compared to the past. (4)First, the structure of a nuclear family now can have more than one breadwinner, who normally is the father. (5)This is because in the modern world, only a few jobs couldsecure the stability of single-earner families, which forces both parents to be thefinancial supporters. (6) Second, the trend that parents exchange their roles has become more popular.  (7) As the result of women’s protest for their rights, mothers now have equal opportunities for education and work, which allows the other spouse to assume responsibility as a stay-at-home parent to take care of the children and the housework.

(8) From my perspective, those changes in the family’s structure and parental roles are positive for a number of reasons. (9) That both parents can become the breadwinners would ensure the stable finance of a family, which not only directly eases the burdenthat the father have to bear in order to support the whole family but also enables the mother to pursue her dream job. (10) From another angle, it is an upward step that people are at liberty to do what they like and what they are good at. (11)Women can follow their dream and stabilize her family financial status if they are better at work than their husbands.

(12) In conclusion, I think the changes occurring to a family’s hierarchy and members’ responsibilities are a positive step toward a better world.

Theo ý kiến của mình thì đây là một chủ đề khá “khoai” khi hỏi về một khía cạnh khó cả về mặt ý tưởng lẫn từ vựng. Cùng với dạng bài direct-question ít gặp thì rất nhiều bạn bị bối rối và gặp khó khăn trong việc viết bài.

Với chủ đề “sự thay đổi trong cấu trúc và vai trò của các thành viên trong gia đình”, mình chọn 2 idea chính là:

• Gia đình không chỉ phụ thuộc vào nguồn thu nhập từ người đàn ông nữa

• Xu hướng bố mẹ đổi vai trò cho nhau.

Đoạn thứ 2 mình state rằng những thay đổi này là một bước tiến tích cực và đưa ra lý do để support cho ý kiến đó:

• Sự thay đổi này sẽ giúp gia đình ổn định tình hình tài chính cũng như giảm nhẹ mối lo cho người đàn ông trong gia đình

• Xu hướng này thể hiện con người có quyền tự do lựa chọn vai trò của mình trong gia đình

Một số từ vựng hữu dụng mà mọi người có thể sử dụng được như là:

• Nuclear family: gia đình cơ bản gồm có bố mẹ và con cái

• Breadwinner: trụ cột gia đình

• Single-earner family: gia đình chỉ có một trụ cột

• Spouse: người chồng hoặc vợ

• A stay-at-home parent: bố hoặc mẹ ở nhà để chăm sóc con cái và làm việc nhà

• At liberty to do sth: có thể tự do làm gì đó
